Since I was teenager babysitting my younger sister, I have found that listening to and encouraging children's creativity through play develops healthy confidence (along with lots of smiles and laughter!)
Why was this program created?
What I have found is that many kids' programs emphasize telling kids what to do. While there can be value to that kind of learning, what I have noticed is there is a lack of programs EMPOWERING THE CHILD TO CREATE and EXPRESS WHAT IS TRUE FOR THEM.
Throughout life, even into adulthood we are told to "believe in ourselves," yet if we were not encouraged to believe in ourselves as children, why would we as adults? My theory is that a child's best chance at successfully realizing their dreams is by being empowered starting in the early years to bring them into reality. We can encourage this so simply. Start by asking, and then listening to what game the child would like to play. Ask how they would like to move their body. Offer children prompts to inspire their imagination; then see that imagination expressed through the ideas and movements the child creates. We can celebrate the uniqueness and ingenuity of the child. As a community, we can show our support through encouragement, even participating when applicable. The child feels uplifted by their peers and adults alike and their confidence blossoms!
This is truly my joy - to encourage the confidence of children. Now having taught yoga, dance and creative movement for decades, I am thrilled to be offering Club Fun in the Sun here in Ventura. Named by my niece, Faith (shown above), this club will be a safe container with just enough structure to provide needed support, while also giving each kiddo opportunities to create, use their imagination and gain confidence as they experience the support of community. We meet outside so that we can breathe in fresh air and have lots of space to move around!
To maximize individual attention, we limit the program size to six participants per day.
At Club Fun in the Sun, our goal is to empower your child to believe in themselves through movement and play, and to see they are supported in our community.
